STRING1 == STRING2 (conditional operator)

true if the strings are equal.

Bash also allows using ==, but this operator is not included in POSIX. Use = for POSIX compatibility.

Integers are compared with -eq.

This operator uses pattern matching within a [[ ... ]] construct.
